Water Hydraulic Valves

Water hydraulics was the original hydraulics and up until recently London had water hydraulic mains around the city, to power machinery. Today it is still the most fire resistant and environmentally friendly fluid used for providing hydraulic power.

Water hydraulic valves are usually quite large, due to the flows involved with their applications. Steel Mills, Foundries and Forges use water hydraulics because of its fire resistance. These applications have large cylinders, hence the large flows required. Slip in cartridges are used in a lot of valves and are piloted by air operated solenoids moving a packed spool valve. The cartridges are hard wearing, made of stainless steel, hardened and coated. They also have reversible seats for double the service life.

Torishima specialise in applying valves to new applications and replacing existing valves that have become obsolete. Recently we have replaced water hydraulic directional valves on Tool Changer applications in forges. This required the interface to be exactly the same as the existing valves and the functionality to also be the same. We are supported by BOC Water Hydraulics who design and supply the valves.
